Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell

An Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell is a specialized body within organizations, institutions, or universities designed to manage and protect intellectual property. These cells focus on the identification, protection, and commercialization of intellectual property (IP) created within the organization.

Objectives

  •   Protection of Intellectual Property: Ensure that the innovations, creations, and designs are legally protected through patents, trademarks, copyrights, etc.

  • Awareness Creation: Educate and raise awareness among students, faculty, and researchers about the importance of IPR.

  • Facilitating IP Filing: Assist in the process of filing for patents, trademarks, and copyrights.

  • Commercialization of IP: Support the transfer and commercialization of IP for economic growth.

  • Compliance with IP Laws: Ensure that the institution adheres to the national and international IP laws.

Functions

  • IP Licensing & Technology Transfer: Manage the licensing and commercialization of IP for commercialization or research purposes.

  • IP Creation Support: Help inventors and creators document their inventions or works..

  • IP Filing: Assist in the filing of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs.

  • IP Licensing & Technology Transfer: Manage the licensing and commercialization of IP for commercialization or research purposes.

  • Training & Workshops: Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions on IP awareness.

Procedure

Identification of IP: The creator or inventor identifies their work as an IP (invention, design, literary work, etc.).

Disclosure: The IP is disclosed to the IPR Cell for preliminary evaluation.

Assessment: The IPR Cell assesses whether the IP is eligible for protection.
